Winter Squash ID and Guide

There are SO MANY winter squash in the world, and so few recipes that call for anything but butternut or acorn!

First thing to know: for most winter squash (with the exception of spaghetti squash) is pretty darn interchangeable. In other words, if a recipe calls for acorn squash, you can absolutely use a kabocha or kuri. In fact, it might even taste more full of flavor!

However, it is great to get to know your squash, its flavors and fine points. So here’s a guide to all the winter squash our four farms grow!

Please note, the guides are grouped by: acorn, butternut, delicata, hubbard, kabocha, pumpkin, and spaghetti.
