Seasonal kitchen skills

Making the most out of local food with the least waste

Over the years we’ve found that growing lots of local food isn’t enough. People need to know what to do with it. Our kitchen workshops aim to provide individuals with the tools to handle the ebb and flow of Montana’s growing season. So when the garden flows forth with zucchinis and cucumbers and kale leaf after kale leaf, we can respond accordingly!

Our workshops accommodate individuals of all comfort levels, from those who are just starting their local food journey to those who have been cooking and squirreling seasonally for years.

organic gardening in missoula

A comprehensive approach to maximizing your garden’s health and harvest.

There is always something new to learn when it comes to growing vegetables. Missoula’s short growing season presents a unique set of challenges in the garden. Our garden workshops are focused on how to grow sustainable, organic food in this climate.

Our gardening workshops cater to gardeners of all experience. From learning the most basic guidelines for gardening in Missoula to a deep dive into soil fertility, these workshops explore gardening practices that will improve the health of your garden, increase your yields and enhance your gardening experience all around.

Workshop rates

As you look at our list of  workshops, the prices reflect the differing costs of facilitation for each.

  • INSTRUCTORS

    • Workshops provide excellent opportunities to share the knowledge and experience of Garden City Harvest staff members. Our curriculum is built around these areas of expertise, granting participants invaluable insight into various topics, led by a diversity of individuals. We also love to work with community experts outside of Garden City Harvest to enhance our curriculum and provide optimal educational experiences for our community.

  • SUPPLIES

    • Many of our hands-on workshops include take-homes for participants. In the kitchen for instance, participants can expect to take home whatever we are concocting in the kitchen that day.  The workshop price will reflect these costs, be it vegetables, bee homes, vinegar, or bouquets.

Sliding scale

Accessibility is central to the mission of Garden City Harvest. For this reason, our workshops are available on a sliding scale. A limited number of scholarships may be available for each workshop. If interested, please email gabby@gardencityharvest.org.

we hope to see you this season!
