The best part
Thanksgiving is often mythologized, and the history of the colonization of our country glossed over. Today, we'd like to take the best part of Thanksgiving -- giving thanks -- to remember some of the many things we’re so grateful for.
We are thankful:
...for the land we cultivate, a land that was once the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Séliš (Salish) and QÌispé (upper Kalispel or Pend d’Oreille);
...for our frontline and healthcare workers, teachers, parents caring for kids at home, epidemiologists, vaccine researchers, and those working hard to keep it all together for the rest of us;
...for our hardworking partners. . . Like the Missoula Food Bank who tirelessly serves record numbers of people, to All Nations Health Center working directly with Covid impacts as the numbers rise, and for the Poverello for keeping those without a house safe and warm;
...for our gardeners who bring the community to our community gardens with hope, hard work, and endless garden tips;
...for our investors: our CSA farm share members, volunteers, and donors;
...for our farmers who skillfully grow food with care;
...for the bountiful harvests that keep our bodies healthy and our bellies full.
Thank you for caring about the work of local food and all it does to grow, feed, and inspire our community.
Warmly,
Jean Zosel, Executive Director
