Community Gardens: Upcoming Events and Garden Hours
Garden City Harvest’s Community Gardens host regular community building events such as potlucks and communal projects. These events are a great opportunity for gardeners to connect and work alongside one another. Past projects have included, planting a raspberry patch, making fossil stepping stones, building compost bins, planting herb spirals, turning compost, and preparing a community food security plot. Part of community gardening is caring for your own plot, but part is helping to care for your community garden. These events are a great way to participate in a larger way, so please join in!
May projects and potlucks coming up…
Garden of Eaton – Thursday, May 10th 4:30-6:30. Preparing and planting a community potato patch. Produce from this plot will be shared among gardeners
Meadow Hill – Saturday, May 19th 12-2pm. Potluck and preparing and planting community plot. We’ll celebrate our hard work with a delicious potluck. Please bring an appetizer, main dish, or dessert to share.
Northside – May date TBD. Turning Compost!
During garden hours, your coordinator and community garden
assistant are scheduled to be at a particular garden as a resource for you, available to answer questions, provide assistance, etc. We’ll also be working on garden clean-up projects and generally making sure the garden is in working order.
