description
Making sauerkraut is both simple and fun, especially when done in community!
Join us on the farm to learn this ancient food-craft and celebrate the closure of another bountiful growing season!
Sauerkraut has been a survival food for ages, and its nutritional benefits were relied upon to provide sustenance through long winters and indefinite voyages across the sea. Not only does fermenting your cabbage extend its shelf life, but it increases the nutritional benefits of this hearty vegetable!
Your ticket to the shindig includes:
An introduction to lacto-fermentation and hands-on sauerkraut making
A fresh pretzel from GRIST BAKERY
A seasonal beer from BAYERN BREWING
non-alcoholic beverages available
A quart of sauerkraut ready for home fermentation
NOTE: While the shindig will last from 2-6PM, the hands-on kraut making will be over well before 6. This timeframe allows for folks to socialize and enjoy the farm if they so choose.
